Antonia always got her man.

Chapter 13

Agent Bradshaw contacted Agent Blackman, the head of operations in Atlanta regarding serial killers and rapists, and asked him if he could question their suspect about his affiliation with the deceased; Jessie Carter.

Blackman informed him that he would make Mr. DeMartin available to him at a later date, but at the present time they needed to focus on the crimes he was being accused of there, and they didn't want to confuse matters.

Bradshaw was upset because he knew this was crucial to his own case. This was the first real break he had, so he decided to take the situation to his boss to see if he could make things happen. He knew this would take more time than he really could afford, because up until now, KP had everything going his way, and finally Bradshaw felt he was now in the game. He needed to talk to this DeMartin.

About thirty minutes passed when Bradshaw got a call. He picked up his cell phone. It was Dr. Braxton. "Yeah?" he answered.

"Well, I would think you'd be a little more excited hearing from me."

"I'm sorry, Hon. It's not that, of course. I'm always happy to hear from you. We got a break in the case."

"That's wonderful news, David! So why so sad?"

Bradshaw filled her in on the events. After he was finished, she said, "Well, I was calling to tell you I have to go back to ATL. The Bureau called and asked if I could come back and talk to Mr. DeMartin. I guess while I'm there I could sneak in a few questions for you."

Bradshaw was speechless. Lady luck was finally dealing out some of her luck his way. "Susan, thank you. When do you leave?"

"Tomorrow evening is the earliest I can leave."

"Hey, listen. I have to go home. My wife and son are leaving town to stay at my in-laws for a while until things get under control. So, I was wondering if I can come by later after they leave."

"Hmm... I think that's just what the doctor prescribed!"

"Okay. That way I can kill two birds with one stone."

"Okay, see you later then," Susan said, and ended the call.

Right after she hung up, her phone immediately began ringing again. She took a deep breath and then answered it. "Hello?" she said.

"Yes, hello. May I please speak to Dr. Susan Braxton?"

"Yes, this is she. May I ask who's calling?"

"Of course… this is Tate Sanders of the Daily News."

Dr. Braxton paused before speaking. "Yes, Mr. Sanders? How can I be of assistance to you?"

"Well, really Dr. Braxton, I'm trying to assist you."

"In what way, may I ask?"

"Well, I have an opportunity that I'm sure you wouldn't want to miss out on."

"Really? And what would that be, Mr. Sanders?"

"I would like to give you the opportunity to be part of a book that I'm writing."

"What kind of book?"

"Well, I'm not sure what genre it would fall under, but it would be about the mind of a serial killer/rapist.
